Revlon Colour Burst Lacquer Balms

Hey lovelies! I hope you're all having a great week. Today I have swatches and a review of 3/10 of the new Revlon Colour Burst Lacquer Balms. I actually got mine sent to me over a month ago from my friend in the U.S and they weren't available in Australia at the time but now they are!! (Chemist Warehouse available for $14.99, link here). I already adore the previous Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balms so knew I would love these. I originally saw my favourite YT, Nicole Guerriero review these on her channel and knew I wanted them too! The colours I have are; Tease; A copper toned orange creme, Whimsical; A berry toned purple but it is super flattering and not gothic/emo at all and Provocateur; a raspberry red creme which looks great with all skin tones. The formula and consistency on these 3 are so good, creamy, opaque and very easy to apply. I love all of these and love the mint scent too! Onto the pictures. I also love the metallic packaging and that the barrel is the colour of the product.

Trophy Wife Nail Art Inspired Nails

Hi guys!! A few days ago on instagram I saw such a cool looking nail art design by the super talented Trophy Wife Nail Art and knew I wanted to replicate it right away! It is definitely a random skittle manicure with each nail being different. I'm really pleased with the results and managed to do both hands quite well. I loved this mani so much! All were free handed using the polish brush and a small nail art brush. I finished the look off with 1 coat of SV.

Colours used: OPI - Alpine Snow (White), Revlon - Metallic (Silver), OPI - In My Back Pocket (Orange), Essie - Set In Stones (silver glitter), Nails Inc - Baker Street (Royal blue), Essie - DJ Play That Song (purple), Essie - Go Overboard (dark green), Orly - Black Vinyl (black), OPI - What's With The Cattitude (light blue),

Ikat Nail Art

Hi all! Today I saw a great video by the lovely MissJenFabulous on IKAT Nails, which is originally a dying technique used to pattern textiles. To see the full tutorial on how-to do IKAT nails, check out Jen's websit linked above!

The colour I used as a base was Orly's - Beach Cruiser, followed by a standard White Striping Pen, followed by Revlon - Metallic, followed by a standard Black Striping Pen. All topped off with 1 coat of Cult Nails - Wicked Fast. It wasn't too bad for a first go, I managed to get better on my second hand. I need to work on my black feathered stripes to accentuate the IKAT print more.

Artsy Wednesday - Flowers!

Today's theme for Artsy Wednesday is. . . . FLOWERS!

I was going to do my favourite flowers, which are daffodil's and lavender. . . but i've decided to use inspiration from my room! I bought a beautiful piece of artwork off ebay almost 2 years ago and I love it. . it's right above my bed and makes my room feel so colourful and a happy place to be!

It is hand painted and no other canvas is the same as it is made especially when ordered. It is a mixture of swirling colours of blue, green, pink, white and yellow with a beautiful branch full of blooming and open cherry blossom flowers.

So! For this manicure. . i kept it a little simpler than the painting. . I did 2 coats of Revlon White on White followed by Suzi Loves Cowboys by OPI for the rich tree branch and then I used In My Back Pocket by OPI for the flower petals and then I used dark pink diamontes for the middle of the flowers. All followed by 1 thick coat of SV.

What do you think? Pretty like a cherry blossom? I like this but I do admit i'm an amateur nail artist! I'll get better with practice and better utensils!

Revlon - Amber Ablaze

This is one of my untrieds that I bought on special for $4.99. It's called Amber Ablaze by Revlon and the name fits the description. A really nice amber metallic/foil that applies with full opacity with only 1 coat! I love the vibrant colour and think it suits my skin tone really well. I applied SV over the top.

Revlon - Glitz & Glam + Color Club - Foil Me Once

 Today I wanted to use my new Revlon Glitz & Glam, a dark pink with lighter and darker glitter in it but I decided it would need a base colour as it is quite a sheer glitter so I used Color Club's Foil Me Once, a beautiful lavender-pink foil which is soo pretty I almost didn't want to apply the Revlon over the top but I stuck to my plan. I used 1 coat of Foil Me Once and 2 coats of Glitz & Glam followed by 1 coat of SV. Check the photos below:

 Mmmm so pretty I love this :-) I needed something sparkly and glittery.

Revlon Just Tinted - Victorian

 Today's colour was an impulse buy along with my mini Revlon haul below (see picture). I was curious to see what this colour looked like. Revlon Just Tinted - Victorian is a sheer light pink/coral colour and dries to a semi-matte/gloss finish. The finish definitely does remind me of a tinted glass window but I must say I wasn't impressed with the brush. Revlon makes a great variety of colours and finishes, but their brush is just horrible. I can't work well with it at all! This was 3 coats with no top coat. Anyway, take a look below and let me know what you think of this colour!

OPI - The Thrill of Brazil MATTIFIED!

Hello everybody! I know i'm not blogging as often as I was in the holidays but i'm super busy with uni, and desperately miss being able to make new posts..but for now here is a look i've wanted to try for a while! For this look I started off with 1 coat of Revlon's fast drying base coat, followed by 1 coat of OPI's the Thrill of Brazil, finished with 1 coat of Essie's Matte About You finisher.
I love it! It has an edgier look than a normal red mani, and it reminds me of tomatoes (which I loveee!)

Brush Types - A General Overview

Hello there! Today I will be showing you a post on the different types of nail polish brushes I own. Now, I am aware that I don't have ALL the popular brands (my first China Glaze polishes are on their way!) BUT, I do have a typical sample collection to show you! Enjoy :)

The real stand outs for me personally are brushes that are thick, E.g BK, KIKO, OPI and Estee Lauder. These brushes are the easiest for me to work with as I naturally have long nails and find it great at applying colour evenly.

The hardest brushes for me to use are Revlon and Bloom. They leave my nails looking streaky and can't cover the nail quickly enough before the polish begins to dry.

All in all, I generally don't have too much trouble with application. It really depends on how i'm feeling that day and if i have a steady hand.

What's your opinion? Anyone else having similar issues and success??
