Essie New Winter Collection 2012

Hey everyone! Today I have for you 3 colours from the latest winter collection by Essie. School of Hard Rocks; a stunning malachite green creme, Bobbing For Baubles; a dark blue sapphire creme and Bangle Jangle; a soft lavender amethyst creme. These colours all applied excellently and required 2 coats for each. I love these colours, but Bangle Jangle is too similar to many colours I have in my collection. Nonetheless, still gorgeous and a definite must have for winter! I am currently wearing Bobbing For Baubles and I loooove it! Here are some photos :-)

Artsy Wednesday - Ruffian Manicure

Hi darls! Today's Artsy Wednesday theme is a ruffian manicure! A ruffian is pretty much an inverted half moon manicure. It is a lovely little design but I did have a bit of difficulty deciding on how best to apply it. I tried painting my nail the base colour and then painting over that colour, but keeping the ruffian visible, but I just couldn't paint on a good enough oval shape, so I decided to paint the top colour first, use a reinforcement sticker and paint the little bit of nail visible with my second colour. I used 1 coat of Jordana Calcium Gel Basecoat, 1 coat of China Glaze - Peachy Keen, 1 coat of China Glaze - Midnight Kiss, followed by 1 coat of Cult Nails - Wicked Fast.

I really like this look, it's super feminine and cute!

OPI - Black Onyx + Sinful Colours - Green Ocean

Afternoon! Just a quick post today! I used 2 coats of OPI - Black Onyx, followed by 1 coat of Sinful Colours - Green Ocean (which I bought on ebay for about $4), followed by 1 coat of Cult Nails - Wicked Fast. Sinful Colours is pretty thick and goopy, but most flakie top coats are like that so thankfully a good top coat smooths it all out.

This is a classic combination when you're feeling like something edgy without the hard work!

OPI - Glove You So Much

Hello :-) Today I have a colour for you that I bought so very long ago that I actually think it was one of my first colours by OPI I ever bought! This colour, Glove You So Much, is from the Holiday Wishes Collection, released in 2009.  GYSM is a really lovely deep mulled wine shade with some gorgeous subtle microshimmers. I used 1 coat of Jordana - Calcium Gel basecoat, 2 coats of GYSM and 1 coat of Cult Nails - Wicked Fast.

OPI - Don't Touch My Tutu + Accent Jelly Sandwich

Hey guys! I couldn't wait to try some new colours from the NY Ballet collection, even though it was released a while ago now! I wanted to try a jelly sandwich, but got so distracted with the beauty of Don't Touch My Tutu that I wanted to wear it alone. It's the kind of gorgeous sheer white creme that makes your nails look ultra healthy and clean. I wore 3 thin coats on each nail. For my ring finger I used Color Club's - Backstage Pass as an accent followed by 1 thin coat of DTMT. All topped off with 1 coat of Cult Nails - Wicked Fast.
I love this look! It is so clean and feminine and a beautiful change of brightly opaque colours.

Artsy Wednesday - Inspired by Independence Day

Hello hello hello! Today's Artsy Wednesday theme is inspired by Independence day. I am not from America so this day isn't celebrated here in Australia, but I still thought it was a cool theme, especially since the flag is very iconic with its three colours! I decided to use a technique called the Saran Nails, which utilises scrunched up plastic wrap to pick up colours applied over a dry base colour (here is a great tutorial by Katy @ Nailed It). The colours I used were; Nails Inc - Baker Street for the blue, OPI - The Thrill of Brazil for the red, OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls for the white, China Glaze - Techno for the glitter on the thumb, and lastly Jordana - Crystal Glitter over every nail except the thumb for subtle hints of glitter.

It wasn't too bad for my first try at the Saran nails and I definitely want to try it again! I hope you like :-)

OPI - Unfor-greta-bly Blue + Pirouette My Whistle

Hey guys! I hope you are all well and having a good week! I cut my nails to very short nubbins and I love applying a dark colour to short nails, so I chose Unfor-greta-bly Blue, which is from the newest and upcoming collection of OPI's Germany Collection (See full swatches here). I just received OPI's - Pirouette My Whistle for review and knew I wanted to layer it over UB. . and i'm glad I did! It looks so pretty! PMW is a clear base filled with dense silver micro square glitter and large hex glitters. I applied 1 coat of UB, followed by 1 coat of PMW, followed by 1 coat of Cult Nails - Wicked Fast.

This combination is much unique IRL. I hope you like! Can't wait to do a jelly sandwich with PMW! :-D Have a great afternoon/evening!

Two Tone Nails & I'm a Half Marathon Finisher!!

Hey guys! How are you all? I am very very very very sore! My entire body is super sore because my boyfriend and I ran the Gold Coast half marathon (21km) yesterday! It was very very hard but I made it all the way in 2 hours and 18.30 minutes and i'm super proud of myself!

Today I was going to buy a nice peach colour by Essie I saw at Myer the other day, but when I went back, I couldn't find it on the stand! Boo. Anyway I decided to do a two tone nail. I used two different colours; China Glaze - For Audrey, a really gorgeous tiffany blue creme, and OPI - Mod About You, my favourite pastel pink creme. Both applied gorgeously and I only used 1 coat on each nail. Firstly I stuck some striping tape diagonally onto my nail and painted the bottom half with For Audrey and the top half with Mod About You and carefully peeled the tape off. I then applied 1 coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

I was going to use my glitter striper to fill the gap in the middle, but I actually preferred it without and liked the distinct separation between the two colours. This reminds me of an ice cream van or something from a Katy Perry film clip lol :)

I think this mani looks better from afar but I still think it is really really cute! What does this mani remind you of?
