Artsy Wednesday - Galaxy Nails

Hi everyone! Today's Artsy Wednesday theme is Galaxy nails! I used the tutorial from Tales About Nails here which is super simple and great to nail galaxy nails first go! I painted all my nails with 1 coat of OPI - Nail Envy followed by 2 coats of OPI - Black Onyx.
The colours I sponged on (in order) were: Bloom - Yellow, OPI - Fiercely Fiona (off pastel yellow), OPI - Unforgretably-blue (blue shimmer), OPI - Japanese Rose Garden (rose shimmer), OPI - Melon Of Troy (orange shimmer), OPI - Fiercely Fiona, and I finished it off with 1 coat of China Glaze - Techno (used as a substitute to painting white stars, the large hex glitters worked so well with the look!)

I think I sponged on a little too much yellow, but to be honest I really really liked how it turned out! I will definitely be trying this again :)

Orly - Passionfruit

Hello :-) today's post features a lovely colour, perfect for spring! Orly - Passionfruit is a gorgeous neon watermelon colour. It is a true neon as it dries to a semi-matte finish. For this look I used 1 coat of OPI - Nail Envy, 2 coats of Passionfruit as it was a little patchy on the first coat and 1 coat of Cult Nails - Wicked Fast. I love this colour! I didn't realize how extremely bright it is until I went outside. . .WOW! My camera freaked out trying to capture it, but I did the best that I could. Here it is

My Nail Polish Storage System

Hi there lovelies! I thought today would be a good day to show you my nail polish storage system! I wanted something affordable, and a good size that doesn't waste space, and I found the perfect storage drawer (for now, increasingly running out of room every week!) I bought this plastic 4 slide drawer from Stacks (a discount store, similar to the reject store or crazy clark's) for only $20 which is really good value. I lined the bottoms of the draws with non slip drawer liner (can be found at most supermarkets for a small price) I've worked it out, and I can fit 60 OPI sized nail polishes in 1 draw (240 polishes in total!) but I have different sized bottles so this will vary. Here is a look into my draws :)

Top drawer; all OPI (in colour order (well sort of :P))

Second drawer (OPI, CG, Color Club, Essie)

Third Drawer; Orly, Barielle, Ozotic, A England, Revlon, Milani (and a CND and mini Max Factor)

Bottom Drawer; Barry M, Zoya, Ciate, Sation, Jordana, Layla, Kiko, Klean Kolor, CND Effects (and a few one offs; Nails Inc, Estee Lauder, BC Co, Spoiled)

Sation - Most Likely Not To Chip

Hi guys!! Today I have an amazingly gorgeous colour to show you. I first saw this colour swatched on Kris's page at Let Them Have Polish! (my favourite blog ever!) and ever since I saw it, I knew I needed to have it! This colour is a gorgeous mermaid jade green metallic. It does best in 2 coats and the brushstrokes are visible at first but once the polish starts to dry they fade a fair bit which is awesome! I used 1 coat of wicked fast over the top. Here are some pics :)

I love love LOVE this colour so much! it is so pretty :D

Do you own any Sation's yet? They are definitely a brand coming into the spotlight!

Layla Mirror Effects - Metallic Chrome

Hi darls! Today I will be showing you another Layla Mirror Effect I received when Kathy from more nail polish made a big order with them! This is just a standard silver chrome colour, but these mirror effects by Layla are not ordinary, they are AMAZING! The brush strokes disappear when it dries, it leaves it literally looking almost mirror like! This polish can be tricky to master, you need to apply it really quickly otherwise if you go over a spot too often the polish will pull off and go patchy and bald! In these photos I did 2 coats, no top coat (but p.s the topcoat does NOT dull the effect, only at first but then the colour shines through once it dries :))

You may have seen in my other post of Layla Mirror Effects (see it here) that it looked horrible because of my ridges, well this post is a HUGE improvement! My ridges have finally gone, thanks to Sally Hansen miracle nail thickener and it looks so smooth and perfect! I'll show you :)

I really really really really WISH they had a gold version of this too! Does anyone know why/have a theory as to why it hasn't been made yet? It would be SO popular!

Artsy Wednesday - Inspired By A Print/Pattern

Hi guys!! It's Artsy Wednesday time again and this week's theme is inspired by a print/pattern. I chose stained glass pattern (originally I saw an awesome tutorial by pixipolish here) and I own a pair of tights which have a stained glass pattern, so this counts I think! For this look I started off with 1 coat of OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls (an off white creme), once that was dried I used a toothpick to draw on the glass pattern with OPI - Black Onyx. Using another toothpick I coloured in a few of the squares using 5 colours; CND - Anchor blue (blue creme), China Glaze - In the Lime Light (neon green), China Glaze - Orange you hot (neon orange), Orly - Passionfruit (watermelon colour creme) and Orly - Glowstick (neon yellow) all followed by 1 coat of Cult Nails - Wicked Fast. Here is my attempt!

(Please excuse if I left any nail polish on my skin, or there is a large gap on the side of my nails, i'm not very good at clean up with a brush.. woops!)

Barielle - Mint Ice Cream + Ocean Breeze Nail Art

Hi guys! I can start blogging again. . yay! Today I am showing you two Barielle colours I purchased from trans-design (which arrived yesterday with a nice haul :)) The Barielle colours I bought are; Mint Ice Cream, a very light pastel mint green creme and Ocean Breeze; a lovely light grey-blue pastel creme. For this look I painted all my nails with 2 coats of Mint Ice Cream and applied Wicked Fast by Cult Nails over the top to seal it.Then on my ring finger i used some ordinary sticky tape to make a triangle on the top of my nail and painted on Ocean Breeze. I also used a green rhinestone at the tip of the triangle to add a little bit extra followed by another coat of Wicked Fast. This is the first time i've used Barielle. The brush on Mint Ice Cream was uneven and jagged and made application hard, whereas Ocean Breeze's brush was fine. The formula was quite thicker than i'm used to and I found it hard to apply. Other than that, the colours are brilliant and the polishes are pretty cheap to buy so i'm not too fussed. Here are some pics.

Glitter Sandwich

Hi folks! Sorry I haven't blogged in a week but I am frantically studying for my Zoology exam on Tuesday and i'm still far from ready so this is a quickie! I went to Kmart the other day and saw they had a brand called BC Co. There was some really nice colours and for only $2 it was a bargain so I bought a really lovely neon mint ice cream colour. It was quite sheer so I applied 2 thick coats followed by 1 coat of Cult Nails - Wicked Fast. Then I used Jordana glitters; Magenta magic and Blue bash and applied 1 coat of each followed by 1 coat of OPI - Care to Danse, followed by another coat of wicked fast, et voila!
